Vernon Adams: New Duck Finds Home

The best stories are the unexpected ones. The ones that make you stop, do a double take and leave a lasting impact.

One such story began today when Eastern Washington transfer quarterback, Vernon Adams found his new home, Monday, signing his financial aid agreement with the Oregon Ducks.

As the FCS most efficient passer in 2014, Adams is nothing short of impressive. He came in as one of the most high profile FCS players concluding last year with an efficiency rating of 183.13. He completed 251-of-380 passes, for 3,483 yards and 35 touchdowns with eight interceptions. The 22-year old is a First Team FCS All-American (2014) as well as a Two-Time Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Adams will fit in naturally as Duck, considering that last season he led Eastern Washington to victories over both, Oregon State and Washington, two of Oregon’s rivals.

Adams will compete for Oregon’s starting quarterback position against returners, Jeff Lockie, back-up to Mariota for the last two seasons; sophomore, Taylor Alie; redshirt freshman, Morgan Mahalak; and sophomore, Ty Griffin, who quarterbacked the scout team last fall.

Adams will be playing his senior year with the Ducks as a graduate student. The California native, red-shirted his first year with the Eagles. After finishing his undergraduate degree at Eastern Washington, Adams will immediately be eligible to compete for Oregon. .

Oregon kicks off their 2015 season against Eastern Washington on September 5th. It’s best to keep eyes wide open because if you haven’t guessed it yet, Vernon Adams is your unexpected.
